Did you ever find out who the bowl's maker is/was?
Curiously, I just bought a bowl with identical signature, in tiny little Eugene, Oregon.
Again, lovely workmanship and interesting woods.
But I'd like to know more about the maker.
Good hunting!

If its dirty, you can clean it with a damp cloth or sponge-don't immerse it in water. Rub it with lemon or even olive oil once every few months or when it starts to look thirsty. That's all it needs. Enjoy the bowl!!!

Thanks so much for the write-up. I just purchased a Paul W. Eshelman bowl (with signature as you show, along with city in Pa) and won't use it for salads now that I know its possibly museum quality. My question is how should I care for it? I washed and oiled it before searching out info about its origins.

Hi Jesse.

I have the felt and aluminum board that went with your chess pieces. Just thought you would enjoy seeing it. Thanks for sharing so much of the history of your pieces, and for your great blog.
